What is Christian healing?
1 John 4:8: ". . . God is love." "Love," here, comes from the Greek "agape":
"affection, goodwill, benevolence." This is how the writer describes the very
nature of God. If God is Love, we can see that Love's nature is to be loving, to give to its creation as naturally and generously as a fountain pouring forth water.
John 1:1: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and
the Word was God." "Word" comes from the Greek "logos," relating to reason,
wisdom, thought. If God is described as "logos," or reason, Mind, we see that Mind's giving is necessarily beautifully intelligent.
If God is Love and Mind, and we're made in God's image and likeness, our
seeing of reality, including our understanding of our health and circumstances must reflect that. We can think out from that starting point.
Starting there, we begin to see that it's always God, Principle, Love, that's doing the healing. The practitioner's job is that of seeing you as you are seen by divine Love.
"The Christ," meaning "the Savior," is that same Love that animated the early Biblical prophets and Jesus, and is that which animated Mary Baker Eddy. They illustrate the saving of humanity from its illusions and the suffering inherent in those illusions. Christian Science is about the "Christ-ian," or saving influence, of the law. or Science. of divine Mind, Love, Principle. It teaches us about the nature of God and our nature as Mind's, Love's, very self-expression. Check out these resources:
